Union City man indicted in rape of 9-year-old girl

UNION CITY, Ind. (Oct. 29, 2014) – A Union City man has been indicted in the rape of a 9-year-old girl.

According to the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office, an Ohio grand jury indicted Richardo R. Chavez, 29, on three charges of rape and three charges of gross imposition. Court documents filed in September accuse Chavez of having sexual contact with the 9-year-old girl between Dec. 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Chavez’s bond was set at $100,000. He was released from jail on Oct. 9 after posting bond.

He’s scheduled to go on trial in January.
